The Blaze Drop Toe-to-Toe Battle with First-Place Dallas
Losing two games to Major League Lacrosse's (MLL) best team by a total of three goals provides optimism, as does the Blaze's best performance in any quarter all season (Saturday's third stanza in which they outscored Dallas 5-1 and limited the Rattlers to just four shots on goal). In fact, Atlanta held Dallas off the scoreboard for a stretch of 17:34 in the second and third quarters.

Blaze Drop Third Straight with Chesapeake on Deck
Neither another splendid performance in the cage by goalie Chris Madalon nor an eight-point effort by attackman Kevin Rice could save the Atlanta Blaze (3-4) Saturday night. The Charlotte Hounds (6-2) fired 40 shots at the Atlanta cage, many from close range, and scored 19 times in their 19-13 victory over the Blaze at Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Kennesaw. Despite the loss, Atlanta is just two games out of first place in the loss column behind Charlotte, Dallas and the Blaze’s next opponent, Chesapeake.

Lessons from a Tough Overtime Loss to Dallas
As with any close game, one less mistake or one more ground ball captured might have made the difference. The 15-14 loss in overtime to the Dallas Rattlers (4-2) Saturday night couldn’t have sat well with any of the Atlanta Blaze’s 19 players and three coaches. The Blaze led 13-8 after Dan Eipp’s second goal of the game with 10:58 left in the fourth quarter. Atlanta (3-2) was trying to extend a three-game win streak and looking forward to a sweep of a three-city, three-week road trip.

Atlanta Wins Third in a Row to Move Into Second Place
For the first time in four games this season, the Atlanta Blaze (3-1) scored first and never trailed for the full 60 minutes in its 17-14 victory over Boston in slippery conditions on a rainy evening at Harvard Stadium. It was the Blaze's second victory in three weeks over the struggling Cannons (1-4). The win established a number of firsts for Atlanta's Major League Lacrosse (MLL) franchise, including the team's first three-game win streak, four consecutive wins versus an opponent, two road wins in successive weeks and at the completion of the fourth week of the season, Atlanta is in second place in the MLL standings.
